Who has a boom box these days? And why would you take it on a plane and crank it up.
On a Wednesday morning Spirit Airlines flight from BWI to LAX, 2 drunk women blasted music from a boom box. Pretty poor manners, even on an ultra-low-cost carrier.
NK spokesman Paul Berry said several other customers asked the women to turn down the music, but the women refused. Instead, the women threw down the perennial challenge of morons the world over: What are you going to do about it?
“Then to provoke the other customer they were holding up their boom box in the air, waving it around,” Berry said.
That’s when a 2nd group of pax approached the 2 women and a fight started, he said. Five women ended up throwing punches, pulling hair and falling into the aisles.
LAX police were notified and met the crew when it landed, Officer Rob Pedregon said. The 5 women involved in what he amusingly referred to as a “mutual combat situation” were pulled off the plane, he said.
The FBI was called in to investigate, but no one was charged. Why? Are ‘mutual combat situations’ allowed on planes now?
One commenter to a YouTube news clip on the incident offered a nice quip: “Who says you have to choose between fight or flight?” Maybe that’s a good tagline for the next cheeky NK ad.
