WS Posts Strong April, Flirts With 85% Load Factor
WestJet finished April with a load factor of 84.8%, an increase of 4.2 percentage points year over year. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 12.8% year-over-year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 7.3% per cent over the same period.
The airline flew a record 2.0 million guests in April, a year-over-year increase of 13.5% or approximately 235,000 additional guests.
"We are very pleased with our continued strong traffic growth as a record number of guests chose to fly with us in April," said President and CEO Gregg Saretsky.
For the first four months of the year, WS load factor was 83.5% up 1.8 points. Traffic grew by 8.2% on a capacity increase of 6.0%.
