MSC To Enhance Port Experience With Free New Service

MSC Cruises wants pax to make the most of their port calls. A free new Port Info assistance service that debuted on the new MSC Meraviglia aims to help achieve that goal.


Crew members have been personally trained by local experts so they can offer tailored information and advice from personal experience. The initiative was developed through direct links with local authorities and tourism boards, giving pax the most accurate and up-to-date information, as well as local insights and tips on ‘must-see’ attractions.

MSC plans to extend the service onto all ships in the fleet.

Where possible, ship port times will be adjusted to allow enough time for passengers to fully experience events and get the most out of their stay, the line says. Port Info staff will help book local transportation such as train tickets, taxis or car hire or to create private tours.

“Being able to discover multiple destinations without having to repack a suitcase is the main reason that a cruising holiday is so attractive to guests and we are delighted to be further enhancing exploration options for guests once they step ashore,” says Gianluca Suprani, MSC Cruises’ head of global port development and shore side activities. 

“Not only are we introducing new and exclusive shore excursions, but our new Port Info service is something truly ground-breaking, not offered as a complimentary service by any other cruise line.”
