The D.R. reports continued success for the third quarter of 2017. The country sustained little damage from both Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, and tourism operations were able to proceed as normal.

Punta Cana leads the country in leisure tourism, with 2.73 million international visitors in 2017. Top feeder cities were Toronto, Montreal, New York and Miami. Punta Cana maintains a consistent hotel occupancy of 85 per cent while the country as a whole has an average occupancy rate of 80 percent, the highest it has been in 15 years.

The D.R. will continue to
accommodate an increase of travellers thanks to new flight options, hotel developments and new airport amenities at PUJ.
