Sunwing Travel Group has signed a deal with lifestyle brand Planet Hollywood that will see it become the master franchisor as Planet Hollywood enters the luxury all-inclusive category.

Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Costa Rica will open under Sunwing Travel Group management in the fall of 2018, followed by Planet Hollywood Resort Cancun in late spring of 2019.

"I am so excited to partner with Sunwing Travel Group and cannot wait to get started with the first spectacular locations in Costa Rica and Cancun,” said Robert Earl, Planet Hollywood’s Founder and Chairman.

“This is the perfect opportunity to bring ‘fame’ a lot closer to all customers by leveraging Sunwing Travel Group’s proven track record of successfully operating and rapidly expanding premier hotel brands.”

In addition to building and operating new resorts, Sunwing Travel Group will offer management services and franchise opportunities to prospective Planet Hollywood Hotels and Resorts worldwide.

“Robert Earl is a visionary who knows how to create exciting and engaging experiences,” said Stephen Hunter, President & CEO of Sunwing Travel Group, adding: “It’s all about capturing the little details that others miss.”

The 25-year-old Planet Hollywood brand is active across the gaming, restaurant, lodging, retail, leisure and entertainment sectors.

"Planet Hollywood is a lifestyle brand that is very well known amongst North American clientele,” says Hunter. “With this new partnership, we will be offering a uniquely differentiated hotel experience which indulges our fascination with popular culture including movies, music, sports and the arts. In the coming weeks and months there will be a lot more exciting news coming, so stay tuned."

The Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Costa Rica will be the first resort from the partnership, where Sunwing says your clients can ‘Vacation like a Star,’ check out Hollywood memorabilia, drink and dine at entertainment-themed facilities and purchase branded merchandise.

Sunwing says the new Planet Hollywood resorts will use technology to heighten the experience, from interactive touch-screen digital displays narrating the memorabilia experience to live streaming of events and activities on in-suite TVs.
