TS Named World’s Best Leisure Airline, AC Tops In North America Again

Singapore Airlines was named the best airline in the world at the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards held in London. It flipped positions with Qatar Airways which topped the list in 2017. ANA All Nippon Airways held its third position, while Emirates held on to fourth and Taiwan’s EVA Air moved into the top five.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards are based on passenger satisfaction surveys of approximately 20 million global travellers. Airlines do not pay to be part of the process.

Canada’s carriers fared well in this year’s survey. Here are the highlights of the results for homegrown airlines.

Air Canada

  •     Best Airline in North America, 30th in the world, down one from 29th last year
  •     Best Business Class in North America
  •      Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America 
  •      Air Canada Rouge placed 18th in the world among Best Low-Cost Airlines

AC was named Best Airline in North America for the second consecutive year at the 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony held in London. It marks the seventh time in the past nine years the carrier was selected as the best in North America.

  • Ranked 68thbest airline in the world, up two from 70 last year

Air Transat was named the World's Best Leisure Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. Jean-François Lemay, President-General Manager of Air Transat, was on hand in London to accept the award. 

"Being singled out as the World's Best Leisure Airline is an honour we're extremely proud of, since it was awarded by our passengers," says Jean-François Lemay. "Air Transat takes great pride in having been ranked among the best leisure airlines for seven years running, and to have topped the list for the second time in its history.
