According to the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, 293,400 tourist entries were recorded in July 2018, an 8% increase from the previous summer. Canadians travelling to Israel in July 2018 were recorded at 8,600, a 4% increase from July 2017.
“Here in Canada – the growth in interest, resulting demand and tourist traffic to Israel has spiralled upwards year after year,” said Jerry Adler, the Israel Ministry for Tourism Director for Canada.
"Canadians are realizing that Israel is a safe, modern world-class destination, and Israel offers the value proposition for Canadian traveller dollars spent on both airfare and land portion.”
Adler says that while the traditional “bread and butter” niche of group travel for Christian and Jewish pilgrimage continues to grow steadily, Canadian tourists are also seeking out new experiential niches focused around culture and events, design & lifestyle, adventure, culinary and wine, health and wellness, sports and more.
During the six-month period JAN-JUL 2018, 2.4 million tourist entries were recorded in Israel, an increase of 17.3% from the previous year.
