WestJet has said that contrary to decision announced earlier this month, it will maintain its non-stop service between Edmonton and Las Vegas, with four weekly flights starting 11OCT, 2018. Flights will operate Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
"We heard directly from many guests that being able to fly non-stop from Edmonton to Las Vegas on WestJet was a priority," said Brian Znotins, vice president, network planning and alliances for WestJet. "We have made this a reality so our guests can continue to book WestJet, WestJet Vacations packages, as well as earn and use WestJet Rewards dollars, the WestJet RBC MasterCard and its associated companion vouchers for their vacations from Edmonton to this top tourist destination."
"We applaud WestJet for being so responsive to the priorities of travellers in the Edmonton Metro Region," said Myron Keehn, vice president of commercial and air service development for Edmonton International Airport (EIA). "The WestJet Group of Companies is offering our travellers the flights and the service they want."
On 2AUG, the airline had announced that starting in OCT, it would no longer offer direct flights to Las Vegas or Phoenix, instead providing non-stop flights to those destinations through its subsidiary ULCC Swoop. It had said it would continue to offer YEG-LAS flights but with a stopover in Calgary.
