Canadian arrivals in Switzerland increased by 9.6% in 2018 for a total of 126,198, leading to another record year for Canadian visitors in the destination.
The number of overnight stays also saw a substantial rise, growing to a total of 270,959, up 9.4% over 2017.
"With even more direct flights from Canada in 2019, it's easier than ever before to discover Switzerland on its own or as a perfect hub on every trip to Europe," says Pascal Prinz, Director Canada, Switzerland Tourism.
The Basel region, with 33.6% more overnights in 2018, recorded the biggest growth in Canadian visits. The highest growth from Canada occurred mostly in the big cities, followed by the mountain regions.
Other popular destinations were the Zurich Region with 76,344 overnight stays, the Geneva Region with 50,982 and the Valais with 24,244.
