Kempinski Hotels and Grupo de Turismo Gaviota are bringing the first 5-star luxury and first non-all-inclusive resort complex to Cuba this year.

“We are delighted to be able to partner again with Kempinski Hotels. Renowned for its expertise in managing resorts and hotels throughout the world, the luxury hotelier will continue to bring individuality and European refinement to Cuba,” said Carlos Miguel Latuff Carmenate, executive president of Grupo de Turismo Gaviota.

The resort, currently under construction, will be located in Cayo Guillermo, approximately 500 kilometres east of Havana off the island’s north coast.

The 245-room Cayo Guillermo Resort Kempinski promises “an experience of exclusivity and privacy” away from the hustle and bustle of the tropical island’s capital city.

The resort’s design will be inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s legacy and love for the region, and will be built to resemble the bow of a boat advancing into the Atlantic Ocean.

Kempinski Hotels has successfully managed the country’s first five-star city hotel, Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana, for almost two years now, and the brand is looking to enhance its presence on the Caribbean island and further extend its footprint in the Americas.
