Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Sends Grand Celebration To Aid Bahamas

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s Grand Celebration ship departed last night on a humanitarian mission from Palm Beach, Florida to Grand Bahama Island.

With its two-ship fleet, Bahamas Paradise normally offers daily departures to Grand Bahama, with two-night cruises and a ‘cruise and stay’ option on the island. With extensive damage to Grand Bahama’s infrastructure, it’s not clear when normal service will be able to resume. Departures have been cancelled through 11SEPT so far.

In the meantime, however, the line is doing its part to help out. When the Grand Celebrationset out last night it was loaded with food, water, and other supplies, as well as first responders and volunteers.

The ship also brought home Bahamian residents who were stranded in South Florida due to Hurricane Dorian. This was done at no cost to any volunteer or Bahamian resident, the company said in a statement.

The current plan is for the Grand Celebration to return to Palm Beach today with Bahamian residents who wish to evacuate to the U.S. and have proper documentation.
