Due to growing concerns over COVID-19 throughout the globe, the Government of the Dominican Republic has announced closing of all of its borders to incoming flights for 15 days. As a result, Excellence Resorts is closing its two properties in the country: Excellence Punta Cana (announced on Monday) and Excellence El Carmen.

Both resorts will close on 20MAR, with plans to reopen on 5JUN.

When the closure of Excellence Punta Cana was first announced earlier this week, the property group said guests would be re-accommodated at Excellence El Carmen. That is no longer possible with the closure of both properties.

Bookings from 20MAR to 5JUN at either property will be postponed.

"Excellence Resorts encourages our guests to continue supporting our brand by rescheduling their stay to later in the year; as you may know, Excellence Resorts has a more flexible reservation policy at the moment, honouring your existing rate when you reschedule by 22DEC, 2020," said the property group in a statement.

No cases of COVID-19 have been found at of its properties, said Excellence Resorts.
