Citing increased demand for domestic travel, Air Canada Vacations yesterday launched a revamped Canada offering with a variety of products across the country.
ACV was unable to release a brand new 2020 Canada Collection brochure as the operator deals with reduced resources due to the coronavirus pandemic, but has revamped its 2019 offering, with several brand new itineraries included for this year.
"As the economy starts reopening and we start to come up with our recovery plans and understand government restrictions and regulations, at ACV we're really forecasting that domestic market is going to be the first to rebound," said Marigold Fortuna, General Manager Western Canada during a webinar launching the product line on 04JUN.
The Canada Collection is the newest product line in ACV's portfolio, having launched in 2017.
This revamped 2020 Collection features more than 140 products, with more to be announced in the coming weeks, an ACV spokesperson said in an email to Open Jaw.
Customers can choose packages that include:
Round-trip flight with Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge
"The value of choosing ACV as your one-stop-shop is that it's not just the hotel or attraction you're booking through us. We've packaged it for you with air and transfers and that brings the value of product at a much more aggressive price point than if you piece it all FIT, and you can save your clients more money," Fortuna said during the webinar.
The Canada Collection offers a range of domestic adventures from coast to coast targeted at Canadians travelling and exploring their own backyard catering to a variety interests and travel styles.
"One itinerary we think is going to fly off shelf and you'll probably get a lot of demand for is Fly & Drive, especially since gas is so inexpensive these days," said Fortuna.
Other vacation types included in the 2020 brochure are Fly & Rail vacations and Independent Escapes. ACV also offers Guided Tours as part of its domestic portfolio, but at this time they are not sure whether they will be operating this summer as coronavirus restrictions continue, said Marie-Eve Dupuis, one of the brains behind the collection.
Brand new in the roster this year are RV Discoveries, which include an RV rental for seven nights, transfer between the rental office and the airport and are available in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. Clients can also request to return the RV in a different city for an additional fee.
At this time, clients make their own itinerary for RV packages, but ACV will be coming out with curated itineraries as well, Dupuis explained.
The 2020 Canada Collection features itineraries catering to a variety of interests, like wine & culinary, camping trips, train-city combos, urban getaways, wildlife and adventure, golf and ski.
"The comprehensive Canada Collection includes the greatest ski resorts, plus options for non-skiers like snowmobiling, dogsledding and wildlife adventures. It also offers up golfing, camping, cruises and urban getaways as well as Fly & Drive and Fly & Rail vacation options. Packages come with possible inclusions for ski mountain transfers, lift tickets, train tickets or complimentary camping gear, among others and a variety of à la carte hotels. The Canada Collection is a great way to visit Canada," added the ACV spokesperson.
