Two thirds (67%) of Canadian respondents are already planning their next holiday, according to a poll of 5,019 clients by Canadian leisure travel company Vision Travel.
The majority (46%) report they are planning for a trip for 2021 and 16% say it is for 2020.
When asked to name their top three preferred destinations, 64% of Canadian respondents say they are planning a trip within Canada or to the U.S., followed by 47% Europe and 44% to the Caribbean or Mexico.
“We are taking care to ensure our advisors, both staffers and our large cohort of independent advisors, have educational opportunities to learn more about short-haul travel, which may have been less of a focus in the past,” says Brian Robertson, president of Direct Travel/Canada West, whose leisure arm does business as Vision Travel.
Almost half (46%) of respondents anticipate staying in a resort, while self-drives – whether using the family car or a rental vehicle – were at 41%. Cruises and escorted tours are less appealing at this time, according to the survey, each garnering a 24% response.
The survey, which was completed in MAY, was sent to Direct Travel/Vision Travel leisure clients across North America.
