TS Offers Baggage Payment Via GDS; Relaxes FTC Policy

Travel advisors selling Air Transat are now able to process prepayments for checked baggage through the GDS for all TS flights.

The transaction will be processed via the Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD), which allows agents to issue electronic vouchers for this ancillary service. The EMD will be linked to Air Transat’s e-ticket.

"By developing EMD capability for GDS bookings we will make it easier for agents to handle extra baggage requirements for their clients," says Joseph Adamo, Chief Distribution Officer at Transat and President at Transat Distribution Canada.

The operator is also relaxing its COVID-19 travel credit policy. Future travel credits are now fully transferable and have no expiry date.

As before, any residual credit will remain on file. This new flexible policy applies to flights, packages and guided tours, but excludes credits received for cruises that are subject to their own cruise lines’ conditions.
