Flying from YYZ is going to get more expensive next year, as the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is increasing its airport improvement fees (AIF) in response to the continued downturn in air travel.

Starting 01JAN, 2021, the AIF for departing passengers will increase by $5 to $30.10, and the AIF for connecting passengers will increase by $2 to $6.

This is the first time in 11 years the AIF has increased at YYZ, says the GTAA.

"The impact of the pandemic on Toronto Pearson's business and Canada's aviation sector has been nothing short of devastating. Today's announcement will position the GTAA fiscally for continued investments in healthy travel and industry recovery," said Deborah Flint, President and CEO, GTAA.
