Softvoyage Enhances Cruises Engine With Direct-Connects

Softvoyage has announced enhancements to its Cruises shopping engine, highlighted by direct connections to the reservation systems of major lines including Carnival, MSC, RCI and NCL.

The company says the direct connects will materially enrich its content and augment the number of cruise offers available for Canadian tour operators and travel agents using SIREV. It will also benefit online travel agencies that are using Softvoyage’s business-to-consumer e-commerce solutions.

The revamped Cruises module will be released early in the fall, in time for the upcoming winter season. Softvoyage says the project represents a significant investment, but it believes the market justifies it.

“There are well over 2 million Canadians who have been on 1 or more cruise trips during the past 3 years according to a report from the Conference Board of Canada. As Canadian travellers seek different experiences, that number has more than doubled over the last 10 years and is expected to continue to grow significantly,” says Softvoyage CEO Steve Ringuet.

“We met informally with a number of travel agents and tour operators in recent months, and believe there is a growing need for a seamless integration of major cruises’ lines content and systems to the Canadian ecosystem,” added Dan Langevin, Softvoyage V.P. Sales & Marketing. “Our integration will allow both Canadian tour operators and travel agents to access, manage and market this content more efficiently and with more flexibility than with the solutions currently available. It will be possible to sell cruises à-la-carte, alone or as part of a bundle (for example flights + cruises) or as pre-packages. Cruise lines will also have the ability to sell their cruises directly.”

Softvoyage’s plans also include a revamp of its shopping experience and the introduction of better tools. All of SIREV’s key features will be available through the Cruises module, including single sign-on, mark-ups/discounts, the Personalized Brochure, TripBook and merge-backs.
