Doug Patterson Joins Collette As President, Canada

A 30-year veteran of the Canadian travel industry, Doug Patterson has been named president, Canada, for Collette. He will officially take on the role in mid-March.

Patterson began his career at Sunquest in the mid-1980s, before moving over to The Travel Corporation. Initially working for the Contiki brand, Patterson later spent years heading up Insight Vacations in Canada before being named to the president role at Trafalgar, TravCorp’s largest guided vacation brand. He took the reins in 2010 and led the company during a period of evolution and sharply increased sales.

After leaving TravCorp in 2015, Patterson has been consulting for a variety of travel companies as well as teaching a travel course at Toronto’s Humber College. He says he’s thrilled to take on a new challenge at the nearly 100-year-old Collette.

“It’s a company with a long history that continues to innovate and grow. I look forward to working with long-time Canadian General Manager Brett Walker, who has done an excellent job over 25 years in ensuring the Collette name is front and centre with the Canadian travel trade,” Patterson told Open Jaw.

“With the strengths of Ron Lonsdale, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and the rest of the Collette Canada team, I believe we can take the company to a higher level of visibility and sales in this market.”

Patterson is also eager to renew relationships with the travel agency groups he got to know so well during nearly three decades with TravCorp.

“I’m a people person and this is a people business. I’m looking forward to getting out there and sharing Collette’s unique offering – a refined take on the art of guided travel.”
