WestJet Posts 2nd Best July Load Factor In Its History

WestJet has announced July 2016 traffic results with a load factor of 85.2%, an increase of 2.4 percentage points from July 2015. 

Traffic increased 13.9% year over year, while capacity grew 10.7% over the same period. The airline flew a record 2.0 million pax in July, a year-over-year increase of 6.6% or approximately 126,000 additional pax.

"We are very pleased with our continued double-digit traffic growth as we achieved our 2nd highest July load factor and flew a record 2.0 million guests for the month of July," said WestJet President & CEO Gregg Saretsky.

During July, WS announced its 2016-2017 winter schedule that included several new flights, both international and domestic. The winter sked includes new non-stop weekly service between YQR and MCO, and new flights from YYZ to a number of Canadian and international destinations including YVR, YOW, YQM, MYR, AUA, KIN, SJO, LIR, POS and SXM. 

And, eff. 29OCT, WS will become the only Canadian airline to provide non-stop service to Belize, connecting YYZ with BZE twice weekly.
