Canadian Airfares Up Over 10% In Third Quarter

Air Canada and WestJet have each raised fares more than 10% in the past couple of months to cope with soaring fuel costs.

An RBC survey says airfares rose more than 10% per cent in the first two months of the third quarter as AC and WS passed along higher crude oil prices. Despite slipping a bit in AUG, fares rose 12.5% at AC for July and August and were 11.3% higher than a year earlier at WS.
