The warning signs are everywhere. We will soon be paying more to travel, says Jason Cochran, editor-in-chief of Frommer's. Airlines are cutting capacity, and for any self-sustaining business, limited supply means higher prices. Diminished capacity, reduced competition, and, most of all, emptier pockets all adds up to declining travel volume, and that means higher prices.
