Most Forecasts Assume There Will Be An Effective COVID-19 Vaccine… But What If There Isn’t?
As the global COVID-19 pandemic continues, most forecasts assume there will be an effective vaccine against the virus, likely within the next six months or so. But that's just an educated guess. A recent study found that COVID antibodies don’t last very long, suggesting that long-lasting herd immunity — even with a vaccine — might not be achievable. David Macdonald, senior economist at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, says industries which are already struggling -- including travel -- could find themselves permanently smaller if there’s no vaccine.
