One In Three Airlines Routes Have Been Lost Due To Pandemic

In late JAN 2020, 47,756 operational routes crisscrossed the world, more than half of them in the US, Western Europe and Northeast Asia, according to OAG Aviation Worldwide. In less than a year, border closures, nationwide lockdowns and the fear of catching COVID-19 from fellow pax have crippled commercial travel, wiping almost a third of the routes off the map – by 02NOV, there were just 33,416.
